Tax Credits available for window film installation
A significant federal tax credit for window film has been extended for American homeowners until 2032. The International Window Film Association (“IFWA”) claims that the announcement of the change was made in accordance with the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.
Under Section 25C of the Internal Revenue Code, people who buy qualifying Madico window films and have them installed from January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2025, may be qualified for a tax credit.
Instead of the one-time benefit offered under previous tax rules, the IRS permits homeowners to claim a tax credit equal to 30% of the cost of installing solar control window film in their principal residence, up to a maximum credit of $600 per taxpayer year.
1. Determine your climate zone.
Qualifying products vary by the geographical climate zone in which you reside. Refer to the maps in the Madico Manufacturer’s Certification documents below to determine your climate zone.
2. Identify the window films that are suitable for your climate zone based on the kind of glass.
Only windows, skylights, and door windows with vinyl or wood frames are acceptable in certain temperature zones.
Use the more conservative value if you are unsure of the type of glass.
Solar control films with safety film versions are also acceptable. For instance, RS40 4mil and 8mil are likewise eligible if RS40 is.
Window films are recognized by the IRS as a 25c tax credit by the IECC 2009 code as insulation.

3. Print the certificate of manufacturer’s certification.
Customers must include the IRS 5695 form along with their income tax return together with Madico’s Manufacturer’s Certification in order to be eligible for the tax credit. Keep a copy of the Madico product certification and your original film invoice, which shows the price of the window film alone.
